A beautiful communal kitchen with all the facilities

Rondavel 1: River View (click for more info)

Rondavel 1 has a great view of the Mdumbi River mouth from your bed. Inside is a double bed, chairs, a table, and clothing hanging space. Outside is your private braai area. This rondavel is one of three, each shares amenities with other guests: The communal kitchen and shared bathroom and shower facilities. You can walk to the beach!

Rondavel 2: Sunrise Haven (click for more info)

Rondavel 2 has a great view of the sunrise and the sea from your bed! The ocean so loud, it’s that close! This is an extra large rondavel and has space for mattresses for the kids. A queen sized bed, cupboard, bedside lights and a bench make this rondavel restful and inviting. You can walk to the beach! You share amenities with other guests: A fully kitted kitchen and bathrooms and showers.

Rondavel 3: Forest Immersion (click for more info)

Mdumbi Rondavel 3 is set into the forest with it’s own stoep and braai and the ocean stretching out beyond the trees. Your own private braai area. The rondi is equipped with a double bed, chairs, hanging space and a low table. The amenities are shared with other guests: Communal toilets/showers and the kitchen rondavel and scullery. There is second braai area outside the kitchen for all to enjoy. You can walk to the beach!

What Our Guests Say

Mdumbi Rondavels is a true hidden gem and without doubt one of the most beautiful locations in the area. The views are exceptional. The property consists of three traditional rondavels and a central lounge, kitchen, and dining area-rustic, full of charm, and wonderfully peaceful. We had the entire place to ourselves, with gentle Nguni cows occasionally wandering through the property, which only added to the magic. It’s an easy walk to the lagoon, where you can rent kayaks and head up the river—absolutely idyllic. We also loved buying fresh oysters, mussels, and Xhosa bread from the local community. We’ll definitely be back!

The view is spectacular! This is an new Air B and B listing and a few shortcomings were communicated to the owner. This is a place for the adventurous, but have all you need for a true Transkei experience. We would recommend it for a family or friends that will book the establishment. The owners were on top of every request, and we had a great time there!
